Light
I love the excitement this time of the year. The holidays are approaching, and people are running around hither and yon running errands and shopping for last minute gifts for their loved ones and friends. There is a spirit of joy and peace in the air.
As I was thinking about what to write for our annual holiday letter, I came across a quote very appropriate for the times we are living in. The quote came from Father James Keller.
“A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. What it will do however is bring more light into the world.”
Such a simple yet powerful idea. We do not lose any of our light when we share with others. I interpreted the quote to be one of love and understanding that by sharing and uplifting others, we will all live in a brighter world. What a great message for the holiday season. Maybe instead of just the tangible gifts, we also give intangible ones. What if each of us were to share our light and light another person’s candle? What if we were to root for others who are succeeding and help others who are struggling to succeed? No judgement, just sharing our light.
